Chatbot-mediated Learning for Developing Economic Literacy – An Experimental Comparison of Chatbot and Human Task Partners for Team Learning

Summary

This research project examined the potential of chatbots as an explanation and communication advisor to foster team learning and team performance. Explanation advisor means that the chatbot can ask and answer questions in a knowledge domain as a support for the group tasks. At the end of each task, the chatbot communication advisor gives an analytical summary (e.g., asked questions, meta-analytic data, etc.) and triggers reflection questions as prompts. The project designed, implemented and evaluated a chatbot-mediated learning tool, with the objective of providing theoretically sound and empirically validated findings and detailed insights into chatbot-mediated learning for students' group work.
