Summary
The goal of this project is to research and develop a learning support system that is able to assess the quality of student-generated academic texts and provide students with self-monitoring reports on their writing practice. In this way, we intend to foster their academic writing skills. In order to investigate long-term effects and change in students’ writing practices, we plan a longitudinal study spanning 4 years. The collaboration between the University of St.Gallen in Switzerland and the Mahidol University in Thailand provides the opportunity to investigate and compare different teaching and learning cultures, English proficiency differences between Swiss and Thai students, as well as potential gender differences.
